Native USDC and CCTP officially arrive on EDGE Chain – A major step forward for stablecoin infrastructure

Circle has just announced important news: Native USDC and CCTP (Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol) will soon be deployed on the EDGE Chain. This is not just a technical update, but a strategic infrastructure upgrade for the entire ecosystem.

Integrating native USDC means that users and applications on EDGE can use stablecoins issued directly by Circle – transparent, regulated, and compliant. This eliminates reliance on wrapped versions of USDC, which inherently carry liquidity and security risks.

Simultaneously, CCTP allows USDC to move seamlessly between supported blockchains without the need for traditional bridging. Instead of “lock & mint,” CCTP operates on a standardized burn & mint mechanism, reducing risk and optimizing cross-chain asset transfer performance.

Stablecoins are the core liquidity layer of DeFi. When a chain has native USDC and secure asset transfer infrastructure at the protocol level, it attracts high-quality capital flows, increases confidence from both builders and institutions, and significantly reduces bridge risk – one of the biggest weaknesses of the crypto market.
